What's in a name?

Domain-name
Or rather what’s in a domain name? Well we think rather a lot and that is why we are delighted to be the first alternative provider of Higher Education to be awarded an academic domain name. Names are allocated by JISC and before giving us oca.ac.uk the JISC naming committee read our quality inspection report from earlier this year – which you can also read here if you haven’t already. The eligibility criteria for an academic domain name require that the organisation has ‘the core purpose of providing high quality higher education’. That’s what we are about and we are pleased that JISC agree with us.
The main course information site changed address this afternoon (see here). Head Office staff email addresses will change tomorrow, but don’t worry we will still get email sent to the old addresses.
The blog and the student site will migrate in due course. Students and tutors will get updated email addresses too, but no new passwords will be needed and no email will be lost. We are talking to the Student Association committee about when to switch over student email addresses.
