Join OCA’s Jim Cowan on the 21 March to visit The Estorick Collection. This is an opportunity to see a retrospective of the work of the Italian artist Renato Guttuso.
This exhibition will be of interest to students wanting to improve their drawing and painting skills and to those wishing to learn more about Realism as an art movement.
We invite students to bring a small sketchbook  as there will be an opportunity to draw from the collection within the Gallery and the day can be used to record impressions in log books and for contextual studies in general.
Jim who has been a tutor at the OCA since its inception, has run a number of study days on various artists and he will only be too pleased to share his enthusiasm for the work of these artists. Jim will give an introduction to the artist, outline his career and place him among similar artists working in other countries. He will highlight paintings of interest that relate to OCA course work and students will have the opportunity to draw from and discuss the works and their relevance today.
This study visit will also be an opportunity for OCA students from different courses and disciplines to meet, compare notes and have an enjoyable day.
