Study Visit: Tabitha Moses, Liverpool
On the 14 March OCA students will have an opportunity to attend an Artist Talk at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
The work in the exhibition is based on Tabitha Moses‘ experience of infertility and IVF. Three white hospital gowns are accompanied by photographic portraits of the artist and two other women. The gowns are hand embroidered with images depicting each woman’s story.
The tender embroidered illustrations for Investment are a curious mix of imagery from modern medicine and symbols of ancient folklore, unifying the yearning for a child across centuries and cultures. Tabitha will talk on themes present in the work and students will be able to ask questions.
You can read more about Tabitha’s experience here.
Following the talk we will look at other work at the gallery relevant to Fine Art and Textiles students such as designer John Bates‘s Jean Varon collection and Edward Wadsworth’s Dazzle prints.
Places are limited, to reserve yours please email enquiries@oca.ac.uk
