When I started my first module with Open College of the Arts, I hadn’t even committed to a Undergraduate degree let alone considered the possibilities of going on to study at master’s or PhD level, but here I am! My time studying with OCA allowed me to start believing in myself giving me the opportunity to fully explore materials and techniques that lead eventually to a very research-based approach to my practice.

It was a real honour to lead this study visit in Oxford. As a previous student I know how invaluable these events can be, for developing practice, as a chance to learn something new and meet other fellow OCA students. The attendance was great with 13 students signed up and all from a variety of disciplines including textiles, photography, painting and drawing.

Using recycled materials could help strengthen an environmental message, maybe a piece of clothing could hold some form of memory. Think about what you are trying to convey, could a different choice of materials help strengthen your ideas?
