Blog of the week: Simon Lawrence

The latest blog of the week is Simon Lawrence’s blog to support his study of Digital Photographic Practice. Simon’s blog is an excellent example of an online learning log, with some very structured and detailed notes of his work on the course exercises, notes on his wider research and glimpses at his wider creative experiments like the image above. Well worth investigating.

  • Wow, very interesting and very detailed blog. Love the post about the ‘Assignment 1 – work flow’. This is a blog I will definetly check out time to time.

  • Simon, hard work goes into your blog, and I really like your 6 final selects for As. 1 DPP. Minimalistic, great textures, soft light, and interesting view…
Have a great time, and enjoy.

  • Good pics mate.
Because of their juxtaposition with the painted huts, the sea and sky in the beach hut photos appear to take on the texture of paint.
And where, in a number of the photos, all we can see is a series of rectangular strips (the vertical edges of the framing huts, and the horizontal sections of the sea and sky), all of the objects look like those samples of paint colours that you get in DIY mags.
I’ll take ocean blue please; no, sky blue.

  • Thanks for the comments guys. I’m really enjoying the course but it’s still lovely to get some positive feedback from the outside world!

  • Hi Simon
I’m just about to start this module so it is good to read a fine example. I’m thinking of changing the content of my blogs and I like the simply expressed yet detailed analysis style which remains relevant at all times. I’m going to try this.
