New courses, new degrees

I am very pleased to announce that we will shortly open for enrolment two new courses for the degrees we introduced in November 2015. The first is the level one Moving Image course, Fact and Fiction. This is the second core course unit in the Moving Image degree and has been written by new tutor, Ruth Maclennan.
The second new course is a level one Music course, Stylistic Techniques, and has been written by another new tutor, Gavin Wayte.
The introduction of these two new courses fills out the level one pathways for these two degrees. It also means that students who are not sure whether they want to commit to a full degree can now study three level one courses and gain a CertHE in Music or Moving Image.
Work will now start on commissioning the level two courses for these degrees.
And that is not the only new work. I am delighted to say that we are now making plans to add Spatial Design to the OCA course offer and are starting work on two new named degrees: BA(Hons) Interior Design and BA(Hons) Garden Design. In some ways this is back to the future, as the OCA previously had courses in Interior and Garden Design and they were very popular. However, these new degrees will be completely new and will be the first open access distance learning degrees in these subjects. In keeping with our commitment to widening access, we will also be developing Foundation Courses which lead to these degrees. It is early days, but if you are interested in either of these design degrees please email enquiries@oca.ac.uk and we will send you regular updates on progress. If you are a tutor or a professional working in either of these areas you can also email us at the same address, as we are interested in hearing from people who want to work with us as tutors and course authors.
