As part of the OCA’s charitable purpose, each year our Learner Support Scheme helps new and existing students with a low household income to access our courses.
This is in the form of partial bursaries towards the course fees, dependant on household income. Applicants must not be eligible for other sources of funding, such as Student Finance.
If you’ve been thinking of doing one of our Foundations courses but would need help towards the fees please get in touch about applying. Or perhaps you’re interested in studying towards a degree, but aren’t eligible for Student Finance. In this case bursaries are applied for on a unit by unit basis.
Richard is studying Foundations in Photography with us through the Learner Support Scheme and told us this:-
“I am currently in the middle of part three, and the course has helped me in so many ways. My photography has improved significantly, so much so that I have applied and been offered a place to study BA (Hons) Photography with UCA.
The group emails and recommendation to follow other students’ blogs have given me a personal community, and a sense of being valued. The coursework, especially Image the Portrait, has helped me to get out and interact with the public.
My mental health problems have been helped and improved in so many ways because of Foundations in Photography. None of this would have been possible without the bursary that I received and I would like very much for you to pass on my thanks to the bursary awards team.”
Please get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to request the guidance notes and application form.
