Excellent piece Vicky; well done! 😀
This is a beautiful form of expressing a view over such a sensitive subject. It resonates with me as an ex-smoker but wonder if a smoker will actually “get the message” internally by viewing such a well executed and attractive piece.
You are right, Jim, when you say that the idea has to function as a work of art as well as a concept/message. For me, the first two of the series of four do and I also really like the larger ones. I often have students who have great ideas but they find it hard to put them down visually. The ideas can overwhelm them and they don’t know where to start. Mixed media is a great way to start, as collage can be moved around, painted over, torn, written on etc. It’s when the concept and the formal aspects come together that things really start to happen.
