Course Support Advisers
We’re pleased to announce today that we are enhancing the support available to OCA students. Following in-depth discussion with the OCA Student Association (OCASA) and our Trustees we have created two new roles in Head Office and will be offering telephone and email support to students who have subject specific questions about projects, assignments and other aspects of their course.
Joanne Mulvihill has a Fine Art degree and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Art Education and will be handling enquiries about Fine Art and Illustration and Eddie Smith has an Interdisciplinary Art and Design degree and a Post Graduate Certificate in Lifelong Learning and will be handling enquiries about Photography and Graphic Design. We think this additional support will be particularly useful to students at level 1, but it will be open to everyone. We do not see it replacing the support from tutors or from other students through the various forums but rather as providing additional easily accessible answers to issues that arise while studying. If the take up is good we will be extending Course Support Advisers to other subject areas. two new student advisers will start at the end of this month to backfill the places vacated by Joanne and Eddie.
To contact Joanne or Eddie email coursesupport@oca.ac.uk or ring 0800 731 2116
Thanks for this Gareth. I think Joanne and Eddie have made a big difference already and I welcome their addition to the team on behalf of OCASA. Great to see OCA and OCASA working together to improve the experience for students. Well done!
Very welcome news. It’s great to see this additional support being offered.
Brilliant news 🙂 I do hope lots of people get in touch with them – Joanne and Eddie will really help with all sorts of questions
Great to put a face to a name, for those of us not so close to OCA HQ. 🙂
Really glad to have you both to help 🙂
That’s brilliant. On the forum there are often threads and posts from students wIth queries that could benefit from a direct and swift (expert!) response. And what excellent people to choose to do the jobs!
Brilliant- it does feel reassuring to be able to turn to you guys for direction, specially at level 1.
glad to know who to ask for help 🙂 thank you x
Just to know there is someone you can contact is a great comfort in the lonely world of distant learning. A great addition. Well done OCA and OCASA.
What about support for music students. I often have queries, re the work or Sibelius software.
Hi Chrissy This is additional support and we are trying out in the largest subject areas. We hope to be able to extend it to smaller subjects. In the meantime you can always ask fellow students on the student website or your tutor.
Very good news indeed. Wonderful to know it is okay to ring up for support. I met Joanne and Eddie at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park Study visit and they were very helpful.
