Joanne Ward
Shown here is Joanne Ward’s response to Drawing 1: Assignment 1:To produce two large drawings, a study of natural forms and a collection of man-made objects. To use materials of your own choice and to experiment with mark making and composition.
For these A2 drawings Joanne has used techniques she hadn’t used before, the natural forms piece was completed in pastel pencil and she used graphite and coloured pencils for the man-made objects drawing.
I think Joanne is successful in rendering technically skilled drawings for this first assignment. I particularly like the tonal variation in the make-up brush and the interesting composition of the natural forms piece. You can access Joanne’s OCA journey through her blog here

Beautiful work, great to see it here!
Wow Joanne. What beautiful drawings. I love your use of colour.
Very attractive pieces!
Thats a really high bar you’ve set us Joanne! Just working towards this assignment myself and its really interesting to see how someone else has tackled it. Thank you for sharing.
You just inspired me.
Unusual colour combinations and part colour renditions are interesting. I think that all too often students feel they have to use naturalistic colour and fill everything in.
Stunning!
Really great to see work from Drawing 1 on here. I’m just working towards this assessment and it is great inspiration. Thank you.
Thanks everyone for your kind words!
