OCA tutor and assessor Cheryl Huntbach looks at the work of BA (Hons) Painting student Susan Gedda. Cheryl looks at how Susan plays around with materials and the manipulation of marks in her sketchbooks in an experimental way. She explores format and her own visual language interpreting the world around her in an exciting, gestural way.

Lovely work and a great breakdown of the strengths. Another artist that might be of interest is Thérèse Oulton: http://thereseoulton.com/
Lovely work Cheryl! I so enjoyed seeing the exploration of your ideas through the different media…totally inspiring! I’m guessing this work is from Drawing 2?
Hi Patricia, it’s actually Susan Gedda’s: Drawing Level 2 work. I agree with your comments. Cheryl
Fabulous work, great mark making and very inspiring!
Thanks so much for the feedback. Through its challenges this course really helped me push much deeper into the possibilities for drawing. I highly recommend it.
wow, amazing work, and it’s so great to see your explorations. very inspiring!
nice to see your work again Sue – well done x Best of luck with your studies in the future.
Thanks Emma.
This work is so beautiful. Both inspirational and aspirational. Thanks for sharing.
As I am also on Drawing 2 I’d be interested to know what projects these particular pieces relate to- or were they part of Sue’s personal project?
Thanks for the kind comments Sue. Aside from my sketch book work where I was testing out combinations of media, most of these pieces were from Part 5 & my Parallel Project. You can view my blog at reddirt19.wordpress.com
Best of luck with your course.
