According to Freud, dreams are coded messages from the subconscious, Salvador Dalí frequently described his paintings as “hand painted dream photographs.” Now eleven British artists have gathered together to share their artistic visual expression of sleep at the special art exhibition which is hosted by ibis.
Each artist was asked to create a piece of work inspired by sleep.

An on the bed interview with David Bray as he creates his sleep art which will form part of the ibis Sleep Art Gallery at Gallery Different on week commencing 24th November 2014.
The exhibition opens on Monday 24th November at Gallery Different – however, it will be incomplete when it launches. The exhibition will also feature the Sweet Bed by ibis™. Every night during the exhibition an artist will sleep in the bed in the gallery and create a new work of art inspired by that night’s sleep. The exhibition will grow daily, the exhibition itself therefore becoming an installation space for the exploration of sleep and creativity.
Follow the creation of the artwork on the ibis instagram page from 24th November.
See the final collection on Saturday 29th November 2014 and check out Artists and Illustrators closer to the launch of the exhibition for a live link to cameras in the gallery for the chance to watch the artists at work.

  • For many years I have only managed to sleep for, on average, about four hours at a tiime somtimes I sketch or read to use this energy that woke me, then somtimes on a good night I slip back into sleep. The Docters refuse to give out sleeping pills these days, it’s probably a good thing, because this way I have learned to cope with my sleep problem, in this creative
Way. But some times stress & anxieties attack me badly and I wish I could pop a pill like I did in the olden days.
