OCA photography programme lead Jesse Alexander will be talking about his book Perspectives on Place at the Off the Shelf Festival of Words in Sheffield on Wednesday 14 October. Perspectives on Place, which was published in January by Bloomsbury, examines the theory and practice of landscape photography. The book features photographs taken by OCA students.
Perspectives on Place
Street View – An evening with Jesse Alexander is one event in a collaboration between OCA, Off the Shelf and the Cathedral Archer Project, which works with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. With OCA photography tutor Andrew Conroy and photographer Mark Harvey of ID8, users of the Cathedral Archer Project have developed their own personal vision of Sheffield and taken photographs which tell the stories they want to tell.
A public exhibition of photographs from Street View is running at Sheffield’s Winter Garden between 26 and 31 October as part of the Off the Shelf festival. Jesse will be previewing the exhibition during his talk on 14 October, linking the photographs to the themes in his book.
Street View – An evening with Jesse Alexander is taking place at Sheffield’s Millennium Gallery in the city centre, and begins at 7pm. Jesse will be introduced by OCA Chair of Trustees and Chair of Governors of The Cathedral Archer Project Peter Bradley. Peter is one of the people behind Going Public, a four-month programme of exhibitions and events showcasing works from four leading European private art collections.
Booking: through the Off the Shelf website or on the door on 14 October
