John Umney

OCA tutor and assessor looks at the work of Level 3 student John Umney. John’s body of work and written project weave together to tell a story about the way a place or object can act as a point of awakening, evoking true or false memories or indeed fictional narratives based on the contents of your mind.

I looked at this while watching They were Not Divided on TV – one of my late dad’s favourties. The two things resonated. 🙂

I’m pleased to see John’s work being shown here. It’s such a creative project, drawing me into his journey through his ‘memories’ and the essay provides rich contextual background.

I never tire of seeing this piece of work, John. The images become more and more nuanced with each reading. As I’m now at level 3 myself I will enjoy taking some time to read your critical essay as something to aspire to!
