Come with me on 23 May for a double study visit in central London.

We will start at 11am at the Photographer’s Gallery for this year’s Deutsche Börse Photography Prize exhibition, stop for lunch / coffee / discussion and then meet back at Grimaldi Gavin Gallery nearby for Clare Strand’s Getting Better and Worse at the same time.
The nominations for the Deutsche Börse prize this year include Vivian Sassen, known for blurring the lines between art and fashion, Duo Patrick Waterhouse and Mikhael Subotzky, whose work concerns the demise of a high-rise apartment block in Johannesburg, Zanele Muholi whose work touches on experiences of the LGBTI community in S.A. and Nikolai Bakharev’s Russian bathers.
We can do our own ‘vote for the winner’ over coffee.
Pre-entropy Pendulum by Clare Strand
Clare Strand’s witty approach to photography should provide a nice the end to the day.
Getting Better and Worse at the Same Time is an exhibition of new work by British artist Clare Strand. The exhibition will employ kinetic machines, film and photography to reveal Strand’s discordant relationship with the photographic medium, exploring its promise and limitations through unexpected and eccentric means.

Interesting piece on the Clare Strand exhibition in the Guardian here
Also interesting are the comments on the article, Gareth.
Indeed Richard – my own thoughts are pretty close to the person who said:
‘I have no issue with people calling out a work of art as crap if they have the will to tell me why. Obtuseness and negativity for the sake of it is tiresome.’
Looks like a great day – I have booked and am very much looking forward to it!
was at The Photographer’s Gallery yesterday but to see The Chinese Photobooks! Look Forward to this visit!
Looking forward to this as well.
