Nicola Tyson

Join Hayley Lock on the 21 October at The Drawing Room in London.
Nicola Tyson is a British painter who works out of New York using photography, film, performance, the written word and sculpture. In Beyond The Trace her solo exhibition at The Drawing Room, London, you will experience Tyson’s starting point, her drawings.
Working quickly and intuitively using graphite or ink pen, Tyson feels her way through a drawing, making something from nothing in an attempt to portray what it is to feel female suggesting the vulnerability of the body subjected to the gaze. The end result is a mix of representation and abstraction, of looming figures that peer from the page.
Themes around identity, invention and immersion at the point of creativity will be discussed en route and afterwards you will be invited to join Hayley in further discussion and sketchbook activity over coffee in response to the exhibition.
