CaptureThere will be another visit to Frieze, on Thursday October 17 2013, meeting at 11am at the Art Fair in Regents Park. London. There is an admission charge of £23 per head (which is reduced from the individual rate) which we are asking OCA students to pay for.
Frieze London features ‘over 150 of the most exciting galleries today from Berlin to New York and London to Tokyo’. Where else would you encounter so many participating galleries together in the U.K? It is one of the most exciting Contemporary Art fairs in the world, where we will be experiencing some of the best and most challenging works available today. For the purposes of a group discussion later in the day, we will be thinking about a few select questions as we tour the space: The Frieze Art Fair holds prizes for artists and also for gallerists – this year an award will be made for the most innovative stand at the exhibition- can you spot the prospective prize winner and say why?
Tate members association spends £100,000 per year when a select committee attend Frieze to buy works for the collection. We will be asking you to choose three pieces that you would select and think about why you would select them. Think about the works in relation to each other and also in relation to what they would bring to the viewer. In addition to being able to see and buy art by over 1,000 of the world’s leading artists, visitors can experience Frieze Projects, the fair’s programme of artist commissions and Frieze Talks, a programme of debates, panel discussions and keynote lectures.
For a place on this study visit, please email enquiries@oca-uk.com. Please include a phone number so that we can call to arrange payment for the ticket. You will be accompanied on this trip by Dr Linda Khatir and Dr Michele Whiting, both OCA tutors. Linda is the Fine Art Curriculum leader.
