1 (4)This is a wonderful opportunity for textile students to join Curriculum Leader for textiles, Sarah Taylor, and see new work from this acclaimed group of textile artists at the Constance Howard Gallery, Goldsmiths University of London, Deptford Town Hall. You will also have a unique chance to view a selection of textiles from the Constance Howard Resource and Research Centre’s Collection. The trip will be on Wednesday 26 June and start at 11.00am.  ‘Small Talk’ will bring together new, small-scale textile work in a range of mediums in response to the Gallery space. As an artist led organisation for over 50 years now, the 62 Group pride themselves in challenging the boundaries of contemporary textile practice. Many of its 60 or so members are highly regarded textile artists and have strong links with Goldsmiths; many being past students and teachers.michelle-house 'Blind' (1)
The university’s Textile Collection is a rich and diverse resource containing over 3000 textiles from Goldsmiths’ graduates, alumni and staff; artist groups such as the 62 Group; Constance Howard’s personal collection; full scale quilts to fragments of lace, footwear and clothing. maggie-henton-31 (1)Using archives can stimulate and provide great scope for design development. Why not come along and use this day to find new and exciting inspiration? You will be able to view artwork pieces and embroidery teaching samples by Constance Howard as well as speciality techno fabrics from leading contemporary Japanese company, Nuno. The Gallery will be closed to the public that day so we have the place to ourselves !
Please email: enquiries@oca-uk.com if you would like to book a place. Admission is free.
