Double take ….distinctive drawing?

Its not often assessors do a double take… but Andrew’s work was a submission that caused assessors to look again. Why? Andrew doesn’t draw in a conventional way, its quirky. But he has a voice, a clear and unique voice. This is rare at the level that Andrew’s working at. Still he has a way to go, but this unusual visual language is one that OCA is keen to nurture. A great start Andrew!

I think that draw is better than i can do. I mean i don’t have geometry notions.Yet i’m still discovering myself… i’m on assignemt one and i think i’ll fail cause i don’t do all with the prefection of some artists, anyway i’ll continue at least it worths for the experience.
Its people like andrew that makes me feel ignorant.
I’m enjoying OCA and everybody is kind.
Being for one week in OCA made an existencial crises because i feel small compared with others, yet here in my country we have other concept of art, the most original the better, it’s important to sugest not important to do an exact copy.
Well it’s different.
Congratulations to Andrew and kind regards to the OCA team
Thank you for this video of a student with an original voice. I found the comments quite interesting: I find that having been taught in a conventional way to begin with finding one’s own voice can be difficult. Congratulations to Andrew – you have a talent that it is important not to lose!
It’s amazing how Andrew seems to know how his materials will give his picture the characterful look he has in mind. His draughtsmanship is generally very good too, though he doesn’t use it to over-state. Hopefully all my mark-making and drawing practice will somehow contribute to a confidence similar to Andrew’s, though Andrew has shown that it is possible, even as a relatively new student, to make pictures that are pleasing and individual. Thanks to tutor Jim for his comments as well as to Andrew for the video.
