Introducing Rhonda
Introducing Rhonda Fenwick, OCA tutor, artist and blogger
I began working as a tutor for the OCA in 1998 facilitating a range of drawing and painting courses, often meeting students in my studio for their tutorials. I also work as an artist in the community working in the voluntary, community, public and private Sectors. This includes working with people of all ages and social backgrounds in which art is used as a vehicle to offer a range of support including social education, and building cohesion in communities for example. My art practice is wide ranging and includes painting, drawing, film making, installations, digital art and using text as art.
Through these mediums I create works that come into being through imagination and relating to nature. The art is not so much about the objects but how we connect with nature. In 2009 I established MONA LISA Arts & Media Community Interest Company and opened the Flux Gallery for contemporary art in Burnham, Buckinghamshire. I am excited by the idea of writing reflections and reviews on art for the OCA and look forward to contributing on the student forums too.

Welcome Rhonda.
Love your vibrant work and look forward to reading your blog, reviews and comments on the student site.
Thanks to all for your comments, much appreciated. I look forward to being connected to the artists and students who visit this blog and are studying OCA courses. To have this opportunity of discussing art is really good. Hope to create interesting and thought provoking conversations.
I will be organising a drawing workshop early next year.
Hi Rhonda!
I love your work. I am an aspiring Artist and Poet. I am presently studying Understanding Art 1: Western Art at Level 1, and am having private Painting lessons locally to where I live. My teacher says that I have a natural talent for Painting and Drawing! I would like to study Painting with OCA, but will need some funding support!
Let me know what you think of my work so far anyway. I am listed as Charity Girl on the OCA student website.
A Drawing workshop would be great, but I live in London!
Hello Polly, glad you enjoyed Rhonda’s post. Looking at your work I suggest you start with the level one Drawing course. You need to get the fundamentals of drawing and continual practice is what we all need to developing and mantain drawing skills. OCA does operate a discretionary bursary scheme for those suffering from hardship and unable to afford an OCA course and there may be other grants available if you are on a low income. Get in touch with OCA to ask for details.
