Study Visit: Ken Currie and Man Ray in Scotland

CaptureOn Wednesday 21st August 2013 OCA tutors Olivia Irvine and Jane Mitchell will be leading a study visit to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, to see the first major retrospective of Man Ray’s influential photographic portraits. ManRayPortraits_onlineversion[1]Previously showing at the National Portrait Gallery in London, it will have over 100 works spanning his career from 1916 – 1968. Working within Dadaist and Surrealist tendencies, he took photographs of lovers, friends and contemporaries, including Lee Miller, Picasso, Dali and Hemmingway.
There will also be a chance to see the work of Ken Currie, a major Scottish figurative artist who is known for his painting,’ The Three Oncologists’, showing at the same venue. The visit will begin at the gallery entrance at 11am. For a place on this visit please email enquiries@oca-uk.com
