Congratulations Karl. Your lighting project is so imaginative – you made the mask the ‘star’ in a narrative of your own design and your choice of lighting works very well. Your blog is very interesting as well – it would be great if you could add a comments button so I could comment direct.
Hi,
Thank you. I think I’ve just added a comments button to the assignment posts, but up until today my tutor was the only person who looked at it, so there wasn’t a great deal of point. I must admit that the lighting project took quite a bit of time to put together, so I’m very pleased that it seems to have been so well received.
Interesting, and credit given where due!
The light assignment, as Jose says, seems to be the one where a lot of TAOP students have trouble, bringing the brief in connection with creative thinking… I know I had immense trouble with it…
I stopped and returned to the mask in the kitchen sink, because I thought that particular image was really striking, and asked SO many questions.
Very interesting work. I also particularly liked the kitchen sink image. I thought there was interesting work in some of the earlier assignments as well. Congratulations Karl!
Wow, a really well done and thought-provoking piece of work. It’s helped to give me some ideas for assignment four as well.
Congratulations Karl. I’m sure you’ll do well when it comes to the grading and I look forward to seeing more of your work on your blog.
Fabulous assignment! Well doneāand thanks to OCA for bringing it to our attention. You set a really high benchmark; and Jose’s comments are really insightful.
Particularly like the way this body of work has been made into a book …
Superb take on the light assignment, very ‘not what I was expecting’.
Thanks Mike,
I have to admit that it was my tutor who suggested that I try and work a narrative into this assignment.
Have you read ‘The Photograph as Contemporary Art’? Whilst a lot of the work contained within its pages isn’t quite to my taste, it’s very interesting to see what some artists do with their photography. Knowing what other people have got away with gives you confidence to try different approaches.
