I hope you are going to spend a bit of time with this blog post. It hasn’t taken me long to write it, for one simple reason. I have spent some time this morning catching up on some of the photography blogs I try to keep up with and both of the items I am going to suggest you spend some time on come from the excellent DuckRabbit blog. I suggest you bookmark it and return frequently.
The two items are sort of linked in that they both concern photography and its ability to capture and retell stories.
Firstly, here is photographer Giles Duley talking:

Secondly, here is a photostory from a photographer who is new to me, Preston Gannaway. DuckRabbit describe it in the following terms ‘[It]…follows Carolynne St. Pierre in the last weeks of her life, [and] is one of the most powerful documents to be found anywhere on the web. It reminds you of the things that are truly important in life.’

  • Great minds (or something!) I was going to post a link to these on the OCA website but now there is no need. Those who came to Leeds will remember the excellent presentation we had on DuckRabbit.

  • Yes – Duckrabbit is one of my favourite blogs and usually gives me much pause for thought. I particularly appreciate their ethical stance towards photo documentary. Funky Friday is usually very enjoyable as well though. I’m pleased to say i’ve been reading the blog since long before the Leeds weekend as well so it was good to actually meet Peter Rudge in person.

  • I hadn’t heard of Preston Gannaway before.
I found Remember Me very moving. and I think I will always remember it , and feel inspired by it – on so many levels.
    Thank you.

  • Watching Remember Me was a very touching, sad and intense experience. It certainly reminded me of the important things in life.
