Join OCA tutor Rob Bloomfield on the 7 May at the Barbican in London. We will visit Strange and Familiar: Britain as Revealed by International Photographers and following this we will visit Unseen City at the Guildhall Art Gallery.
Curated by the iconic British photographer Martin Parr, Strange and Familiar considers how international photographers from the 1930s onwards have captured the social, cultural and political identity of the UK.
From social documentary and portraiture to street and architectural photography, the exhibition celebrates the work of leading photographers, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, Rineke Dijkstra, Robert Frank and Garry Winogrand. Bringing together compelling photographs and previously unseen bodies of work, Strange and Familiar presents a vibrant portrait of modern Britain.
As City of London photographer-in-residence since 2013, Parr has been granted unprecedented access to high-profile occasions where guests have included Her Majesty The Queen and dignitaries. The resulting images for Unseen City offer a new perspective on the City of London and create a significant documentary record of its colour and character for years to come.
Please note there is a £10 booking fee for this exhibition, this will need to be paid by 22 April when tickets will be purchased. Please contact the student services team to book your place 0800 731 2116.
