Study visit: Textiles weekend in London

Join OCA tutor Priscilla Jones on the 3 and 4 March in London.
On Saturday we will visit Embellishment in Fashion at the Royal School of Needlework.

Throughout the years, both professional and amateur dressmakers have used embroidery and beading to embellish garments and accessories. This exciting new display from the RSN’s unique Textile Collection captures the style and versatility of embroidery and embellishment from the 18th to 21st centuries. It will showcase a wide range of pieces from blouses and men’s waistcoats to purses, gloves and shoes. We will have a curator tour which begins with an illustrated lecture and be shown around the main studio rooms.
On Sunday we will take in the Spring Knitting and Stitching Show at the Olympia.

The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show champions creativity with hundreds of workshops, demonstrations, interactive features on offer as well as 200 of our most loved exhibitors selling specialist craft supplies. Spend a day re-stocking your yarn stash, learning to knit, mastering the art of tailoring and more.
One of the highlights of The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show is the professionally curated textile galleries. This year we have some of the leading artists and textile groups showcasing their work including SAQA, Anne Kelly and Kate Whitehead.
To reserve your place please email enquiries@oca.ac.uk or alternatively to request a place on a study visit please click here and complete the form.
Please note for this visit there is a fee of £30 to cover the curator tour and entrance fees for both days. Instructions on how to make payment will be sent closer to the event.
