• Although a photography student, I enjoy trying to understand other media students’ work. I am finding my documentary course tough but there was much in this critique which resonates. Currently I am having a go at a less pre-planned and prescribed route for a photo essay so I am encouraged by the tutors’ phrases about this approach to work, such as ‘not being sure of outcome’ and ‘reacting and reflecting as you go along’ and ‘using own work as vehicle for ideas’. That is I need to use that initial energy of exploration and not to lose it with refinement. This all leads to the final advice to enjoy the process and keep with what you enjoy…………..on that note I am off again to use my camera as my crayon. Thank you

• This is a really helpful critique of how students are successfull with their process. It has inspired me to be more playful in my initial stages.

• Thank you for posting this video it is very useful to see how other students approach there work and the Tutor’s comments. I am struggling with creativity and this has shown me that I don’t need to envisage the finished work but instead experiment with ideas and see what happens.
