Study visit: New Designers
On Saturday 2 July OCA tutor Sandra Flower will once again be hosting a study visit to the New Designers Exhibition at the Business Design Centre in London.
New Designers is an annual event that showcases the work of the UK’s emerging designers. It is a huge design fair exhibiting the work of over 1500 students. Part one focuses on textiles and fashion, ceramics and glass, contemporary design crafts, jewellery and costume design and this study visit will give us the opportunity to see a diverse range of work from this years graduates.
It is a fantastic event which will give us an insight into new, cutting edge fashion and textile design as well as the chance to chat to the designers about their creative inspiration and hopes for the future. In addition to this we will also see ‘One Year On’, an exhibition curated by Rheanna Lingham, which presents collections from new entrepreneurial designers who are in their first year of business.
A series of free talks will take place throughout the day, which are also well worth attending. Contact New Designers to book a place in advance.
It promises to be a day packed full of inspiration, new ideas, information on current trends, and the opportunity to immerse yourself in a wealth of exciting fashion and textiles, as well as providing you with the opportunity to meet fellow students and staff. You will also have the chance to informally discuss the exhibition and share ideas which you can then document in your learning logs/blogs as a source of inspiration for your own creative output.
Please note this is a ticketed event and a £10 booking fee will be required, please complete the form here to request your place. Alternatively email enquiries@oca.ac.uk
