Study Visit: Ken Currie and Man Ray in Scotland
On Wednesday 21st August 2013 OCA tutors Olivia Irvine and Jane Mitchell will be leading a study visit to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, to see the first major retrospective of Man Ray’s influential photographic portraits. Previously showing at the National Portrait Gallery in London, it will have over 100 works spanning his career from 1916 – 1968. Working within Dadaist and Surrealist tendencies, he took photographs of lovers, friends and contemporaries, including Lee Miller, Picasso, Dali and Hemmingway.
There will also be a chance to see the work of Ken Currie, a major Scottish figurative artist who is known for his painting,’ The Three Oncologists’, showing at the same venue. The visit will begin at the gallery entrance at 11am. For a place on this visit please email [email protected]
